The cold weather has its charms.. unless of course it is laundry day and you are renting a house with a washer and dryer that is frozen on the screened-in back porch. I know…that sounds so Sanford and Son. I can practically hear the theme music now. I might as well have a Chevy mounted on cinder blocks in the back yard too, right? Well, my frustration with my laundry facilities today led me to dream about my future laundry room– one that, at the very least is not exposed to the elements.

One day, I will have a front loading washer and dryer with counter space on top to fold the mountain of clothes that is currently by my husband’s bedside for the third day in a row. I told him this morning not to let me sleep in doors again until I’ve tackled that pile.

He agreed.

A laundry/craft space is high on the priority list for my dream house. Right now, my craft space is a converted butlers pantry. It is a relatively high traffic area, and I’m always concerned about having a hot iron, a glue gun, or a stray needle where little feet are constantly running.

I love this bright wall paper. Lets face it. When we’re doing laundry, we can use all of the inspiration we can get.

I saved the best for last. I think if there is a mansion waiting for me in heaven, this would be my laundry/craft room. Dear Lord, if you’re reading this, would you mind including this in the plans?

Meanwhile, back on Earth, I’m considering some of these laundry space savers.

And if all of this isn’t enough to make laundry day a bit less daunting, I plan to have an entire closet filled with Laundress echo-chic fabric care products.

Be sure to check out The Laundress 2010 Catalogue. These specialty detergents would make great great gifts for a wedding or baby shower.

I’m off to Christyn’s later to do a load or two at her (in door) apartment. Oh well, a girl can dream, right?
