Are you having a little trouble getting in the spirit of Valentine’s Day? It’s understandable. No money, no time, and perhaps no Valentine can really put a damper on the Love Holiday. If I could, I would send each of you, my wonderful readers, a Valentine’s Day-inspired mix tape. Remember mix tapes? I used to make one like every 5 minutes when I was a teenager. I would listen to pop radio with the blank tape cued and ready on the off chance I could press “Play/Record” just in time to catch my favorite tune on tape (minus a few intro bars of course)? Those were the days. Now that we have every song (in its entirety) at our fingertips on mp3 download, mix tapes are a thing of the past. If your feeling a little lackluster in the love department, there’s no better time than now to rediscover this lost art. Here are a few suggestions just to get you started.

Norah Jones- The Nearness of You

Marvin Gaye- Let’s Get It On

David Ryan Harris- Sweetest Berry

(Disclaimer: This song will make you blush. Consider yourself fairly forewarned).

Sade- No Ordinary Love

John Mayer- Your Body is a Wonderland

And if you’re in the mood for some good old fashioned love…

Nat King Cole- L-O-V-E

Guys and Dolls- I Love  You a Bushel and a Peck

Etta James- At Last

And just for the fun of it…

Prince- Kiss

Which tunes would make the cut on your love mix?
