It has never been my intention to become a “mommy blogger”, however I am a mommy and a blogger at that, so lets call a spade a spade. I’ve received several emails lately from friends who struggle with the day to day juggling act of children, laundry, shopping, cooking– don’t we all? And those are just the ones that don’t have to report to a full time job that earns an actual paycheck. People ask me all the time where I find time to write a daily blog to which I ask them where on Earth they find time to read them! There’s a reason why my posts are so short and loaded with typos. In fact, I’ve had to stop 3 times already to tend to Mia’s wet diaper, Salem’s lost drum stick, and a his darling request for a quick slow dance to his favorite Bible song. Never time for a complete discourse. We’re lucky to get a tweet sized point across on any given day aren’t we?

While I have hesitated devoting too much blog attention to mothers exclusively, I am beginning to notice a trend that I feel is worth addressing here. {Note: if you’re not yet a mother, nor have any aspirations to be, tune in next time for more travel and wedding inspiration.} The number one thing I hear most mothers say  is how guilty they feel about… you name it. Too much time. Not enough time. Too much TV. Too little one-on-one time. Too much junk food. Too little consistency. Too much stimulation. Too little activity. We are our own worst critics aren’t we? Most women in general aren’t too well-stocked in the self-esteem department and those that are… well… they have their own issues. So…. what’s a mama to do? Let’s start by getting it out there and perhaps we can share a little encouragement with one another.

I am going to start devoting one of my weekly blog posts to all the moms out there who find themselves adrift in a sea of parenting advice and self-imposed standards of perfection. {I’m seriously resisting the urge to satisfy my alliteration fetish and call it Mommy Monday’s or Wednesday’s with “wittle ones”. If you’ve followed this blog long enough, you know that’s a big step for me.} For now we’ll just call it, “Mother Speak.”

***IMPORTANT NOTE: I by no means claim to be an expert, nor do I have it all {or even a little bit} “together” by any stretch of the imagination.***

A friend of mine recently called me her domestic hero which I most certainly am not! Just because I don’t feature my stack of mail, my dust bunnies, or my son’s latest fit in this blog doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. They are my constant companions. My hope is that we can somehow together discover a rhythm under all the impending chaos so we don’t wake up 18 years from now and wonder if we could have enjoyed ourselves and our kids a little bit more.

So… who’s with me?
