Paris of America
Mar 11{Image via Going Underground} Bikes, bakeries, and vintage streetcars. Today, I am daydreaming about San Francisco. I have never been to Northern California, and Clark and I agreed that this year, we would take a trip to “The City”– just the two of us. I’ve been stashing some cash just for the occasion, so today I thought I’d check out the best that San Fran has to...
Out of Gas
Dec 08I figure while I’m just sitting here in the middle of the highway and out of gas, I would say “howdy”. I am three miles from my destination and was too busy singing into my empty coke zero bottle to notice the BRIGHT ORANGE FLASHING FUEL LIGHT on my dash. Fortunately, I have broken down in the middle of one of those scenic highways that feature the some of the finest...
Mr. Potato Head Cupcakes
Nov 27My boy turns FOUR today! Thanks to all of you who sent birthday texts and cards to Salem. He came off the school bus this afternoon singing Happy Birthday to himself, so I think he is feeling special. Last night after the kids went to sleep, Clark was busy cursing the Comcast Cable Corporate Conspiracy paying bills, and I was decorating these… My kids are currently obsessed with Toy Story,...
Give Thanks

Last year, and the year before that, Salem made us turn it off. He is scared of the elves. He will watch Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and the first three years of Harry Potter without flinching, but he is spooked by elves. Go figure....
Reflections from ER
Aug 18This post is brought to you from the Emergency Room. Clark and I have been here for the last three hours. Unfortunately, he is the one in the mint green landscape motif that unties in the back. The sympathy contractions (two years too late) that he was experiencing this morning were severe enough to be better safe than sorry. So here we are in a cold, windowless room with the white noise of the...
The Wheels on the Bus
Apr 27The kids and I rode the bus today. It was their first time. The last time I tried taking public transportation, it was in downtown Atlanta. Clark and I were going to the U2 concert and we got horribly lost. Not only did I miss a portion of the show, but getting lost in downtown Atlanta is scary enough to make any person swear off riding the city bus for all eternity. But I got a wild hair over...
